Is this FAKE?

May we present the very very very very best FAKE Show of the world! It was created by fourth graders during a project week in the Museum of Things. They not only tested things for authenticity, but also forged, copied, converted, replaced, mimicked and invented things.

What is FAKE? And what is the opposite? As we found out, pupils of the Jens-Nydahl-Primary in Kreuzberg had different ideas about what constitutes a real fake than we adults. The many different things in the Museum were starting points for insightful discussions:
Are artificial eyelashes FAKE? No, because they are lying here on the table and you can touch them.
Are cuddly toys FAKE? Yes, because smaller kids (that are not in grade four yet) might think that they are alive – but they are not.

Is it FAKE to dress up …

… or is it just fun?

Is old money still real or FAKE? How can you tell real banknotes from fake ones?

Who decides what a banknote is worth?

How do I make my banknote forgery-proof?

Are invented stories FAKE?

What stories about the things in the museum are real and which ones are FAKE?

Is acting FAKE?

Is a photo of a person a FAKE?

Are these copies of us FAKES?

If I could make myself small enough to fit into a vitrine, which one would I like to live in?

Is this teacher real or FAKE?

Are miniatures FAKES?

How do we show all the fantastic things we produced this week?

Was this really the very very very very very best FAKE of the world?
Yes!
